Obama to Give Speech at CMU (06.02.2010)
President Barack Obama is making an address today from Carnegie Mellon’s. Attendance at President Obama’s talk, which begins at approximately 1:30 pm, is by invitation only. According to the White House Press Secretary, the President “will discuss the state of our economy, the future we need to seize, and the path we choose to get there. He will talk about the progress we’ve made in building the New Foundation for America that he discussed last year, which include education as he believes Carnegie Mellon University is leading the way.”
 
On June 26, 2008, then Sen. Obama also spoke at Carnegie Mellon on ensuring America’s competitiveness in the global economy. The meeting brought together economic, educational, community-based and industry leaders to discuss the challenges facing our workforce and craft solutions for the 21st century. Last year, President Obama also selected Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon for the World Summit where he strongly stressed that strong education such as programs currently taught at Carnegie Mellon is the foundation for building innovation, drive economic growth for every country, and will eventually lead to world peace.
